Hepatitis B
Testing for Hepatitis B
You can get tested for Hepatitis B at any local sexual health clinic (please click on our ' Sexual Health Clinics tab for more info). If you have Hepatitis B, your body will create antibodies to try to fight the virus. We will take a blood test to see if these antibodies are present, and you may also be referred to a liver specialist for a liver function test.
Treatment for Hepatitis B
There is no specific treatment for acute Hepatitis B however symptoms can be managed with the use of over the counter medication (you do not need a prescription). Chronic Hepatitis B can be treated using prescribed medication which slows down the spread of the virus and prevents further liver damage.
